British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos stated on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the official remarked.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
