Cars in Germany's Town Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers stated they were alerted by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau smeared with reddish liquid

Roughly 50 automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Cars, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Law enforcement report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored fluid.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Officers then located multiple other marked automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the fluid was most likely human blood.

"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in association with the incident," they stated.

Municipal representatives said they were working "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the public for tips.

A senior official commented the attack rendered him without words and had to be resolved quickly.

"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the killing of nine people by a assailant targeting individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
