19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult season, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first title following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

The win also signifies Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 various tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring reactions on the tennis court had caused commentators to wonder if his skill to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

He saved four initial break points in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net area, with his opponent failing to control a volley after over two and a half hours.
