La Petite Maison's Drink – A Recipe

WThis is a simplified take on a beverage from the seasonal drinks list. Designed as a large-volume pre-mixed that is bursting full of flavours of the holiday season, which makes it excellent for hosting a festive gathering. Reserve the remaining citrus syrup you can use for brunch beverages, sweets, or for more rounds of the drink.

Yields 10 servings

Ingredients for the Citrus Syrup (produces 750ml)

300ml fresh clementine juice
200ml fresh lemon juice
500g caster sugar

For the Cocktail (makes 850ml, serving 10)

400ml decent vodka
100ml classic gin
150ml peach schnapps
200ml clementine cordial (as made above)
A few cranberries, to garnish
Mandarin essential oil, to finish

Method

Making the Citrus Syrup: Combine all the ingredients into a pot, heat until it reaches a light boil, stirring so the sugar melts. Next, remove from the burner allowing it to cool down completely. Transfer into an sterilised bottle, seal keeping it in the fridge, it can be stored for around a month.

To make Premix: Combine the specified liquid ingredients in a sizeable container, let it rest for one hour, then filter it best through a fine cloth, to ensure it's perfectly clear.

When ready to serve: Pour 85ml of your cocktail base into a mixing glass filled with ice, and stir carefully for a minute to chill. Filter to a chilled martini glass or similar, top with the cranberries and complete it by giving it a light spray of the essential oil over the top.
