Miami put up eighty-six first-half scores versus the Grizzlies

The Heat secured a crushing 146 to 114 win against the Grizzlies in their initial NBA game after guard Rozier was arrested for alleged unlawful gambling.

Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was additionally arrested as part of a broad federal investigation into illegal gambling. Both men deny the claims.

But, the Heat were not distracted as they put up eighty-six first-half points to lead the Grizzlies by 39 after two quarters, the largest half-time advantage in the team's 37 year existence.

Adebayo led the way with 24 points and afterwards said Terry had the team's full backing.

"We stand behind him. Full support," Adebayo said. "We are with him all the way. That's our brother ultimately."

Heat coach Spoelstra added: "Rozier is somebody who is very dear to all of us. He has made a beneficial influence on our locker room.

"Our thoughts are with him and support for him as he faces this."

The Trail Blazers also won their first game after the detentions, with Brazilian Splitter taking over as temporary head coach in Billups' non-attendance and leading the squad to a convincing 139 to 119 win against the Golden State Warriors.

"We all had great experiences with Chauncey and how he coached," Tiago said. "We're thinking of him and his loved ones but our focus is on the game."

League Commissioner Silver 'Upset' over Arrests

Speaking about the arrests for the initial occasion, NBA commissioner Adam Silver stated he was "deeply disturbed" by the incidents of the recent days.

"Nothing is more critical to the league and its fans than the fairness of the game," he informed a broadcaster. "Therefore I felt uneasy. It was very upsetting."

The commissioner also mentioned an NBA investigation into the player's actions in March 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a game he played for the Charlotte Hornets versus the New Orleans Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"It was brought to our attention by the regulators and the betting companies," he added.

"We then looked into the matter and were open regarding it. And while there was the unusual wagering, we, frankly, found no evidence.

"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can take various actions that the league office can't do.

"So, we've been working with them from that point. Naturally, what they announced recently was an indictment.

"Moreover 30 months after, he still hasn't been convicted of anything, in fairness to Terry.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a balance in this case between upholding rights and conducting an inquiry."

Greek player Antetokounmpo additionally had a big night with 31 scores, twenty boards and seven passes in the Bucks' 122 to 116 victory over the Raptors.

Houston Rockets were beaten 115 to 111 by the Pistons despite thirty-seven points from Durant, while Victor Wembanyama had 29 scores, eleven rebounds and 9 rejections in the Spurs' extra-time victory over the Pelicans.
